The Atlantic has spent considerable time looking into the choices that women make at home and at work. Aside from their award winning series on Feminine Ambition - they investigate the individual decisions made to opt-out and what could be done to retain parents instead. A large part of the problem is the mismatch between the school day and childcare - and the work day, including options for sick days and PA days - someone has to cover that time at home.
